Howdy!

I’m Jacee, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in the state of Florida. I earned both my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!). I have worked with individuals and groups through various opportunities, including Kanakuk Kamps, community mental health, foster care, nannying, and private practice. Working and volunteering has been an amazing avenue to learn more about myself, others and what it looks like to support people in the highs and lows of life. In addition to my work in ministry-based settings, my clinical experiences have involved supporting clients facing challenges such as childhood abuse and trauma, substance use disorders, self-esteem and identity concerns, abandonment, and behavioral issues. Each of these experiences has helped strengthen my empathy, insight, and commitment to clients.

I strive to create a warm, safe space where everyone feels comfortable, sharing their lives. My goal is to walk alongside my clients and remind them that they are not alone. It is important to me that counseling sessions provide a place where clients can experience the true sense of belonging.

I work with individuals and couples who are navigating a range of challenges, including adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, abuse, mood disorders and relationship hardships. I’m passionate about helping others to navigate through life's roadblocks and to find pathways to growth and healing. My desire is to glorify God and in all that I do and I believe He is the one who continuously gives us grace, loves unconditionally, and is our ultimate healer.

In session, I draw from a variety of treatment modalities to best meet the needs of each client. While I tailor my approach to each individual, I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. These approaches help clients gain insight, develop coping skills and create solutions for moving forward.

Outside of work, I enjoy living in Tampa with my Golden retriever, Pippy and Pete the cat. I recently relocated from the great state of Texas and I enjoy spending my time with friends, long walks, and going to the beach!
